Whilst most of mac.interactive’s work so far has been residential, with some commercial jobs, the practice draws on personal experience gained from working on projects in fields such as Leisure, Large scale Commercial, Residential and Civic Projects, including master-planning, urban design and government offices. These projects have ranged in value from AU$10million to AU$280million.
The move from working on these large scale projects to working at the scale
of our current projects has been both surprisingly challenging and
decidedly rewarding. What we have found is that the smaller projects allow
for a more personal approach, which in turn requires a much more exacting
standard. This comes not only from the smaller scale of the projects, but
also from the smaller scale of the team involved.
Every project/exploration we conceive is based on 1st principles rather than being style-based or derivative. That is not to say that everything we do is 100% original, as we believe this is not possible and not something to be strived for. Ideas are part of a larger energy source that is beyond our understanding. Anyone can tap into this ocean of ideas and is then free to do what they will, with what they find. If you have a good idea and do nothing with it, guaranteed in time someone else will realise it.
